ACC: Cannot Link (Attach) Paradox Table on Read-Only Drive (92653)

SYMPTOMS
You cannot link (attach) a Paradox table (*.DB) located on a read-only
drive. If you try to link a Paradox table on a read-only drive, you
receive the following error message:
Couldn't open file '<FILENAME#DB>' (in Microsoft Access version 1.x)
-or-
Couldn't lock table '<tablename.db>', currently in use by user
'<username>' on machine '<machinename>' (in Microsoft Access 2.0, 7.0
or 97)
CAUSE
Neither Paradox nor the Paradox indexed sequential access method (ISAM)
that ships with Microsoft Access supports databases located on read-only
drives.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
