Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Prerequisites

Because of file dependencies, you must have Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed to apply this hotfix.

Restart requirement

When you apply this hotfix, the IIS Admin Service, the Microsoft Search service, the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service, and any dependent services are automatically restarted.

The global version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.

When you access a file by using Outlook Web Access, Exchange Server 2003 verifies the file name extension. If the extension is a known HTML or XML extension, the content is sent to the client. However, if the extension is an XML file that has an unknown file name extension such as .xfd, the content is not sent to the client. Files that have .xfd extensions are secured forms data that is stored in XML format.

After this hotfix is installed, you can configure a list of additional file name extensions that are enabled through the following registry value:
