Event ID 40 errors and error code 0x80041002 in Windows Server 2003 when you install Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server (919698)

SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1), you may receive two warning events that reference Event ID 40. Additionally, you may receive a 0x80041002 error code.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Windows Server 2003 service pack that contains this hotfix.
