This article describes how to upgrade from the Release Candidate (RC) version of Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) to the original release version of WSUS on a Windows-based server that hosts a WSUS database.

To upgrade from the RC version of WSUS to the original release version of WSUS, follow these steps.

Download the WSUS original release version installation software

  1. Visit the following Microsoft Web site:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/updateservices/downloads/wsus.mspx

  2. Follow the instructions on the Web site to download and save the file to the computer.

Install the original release version of WSUS

  1. In the folder where you saved the WSUS installation file, open the WSUSSetup.exe file.
  2. In the WSUS Setup Wizard, click Upgrade.
  3. Follow the instructions in the WSUS Setup Wizard to install WSUS.
  4. Restart the computer.
