You receive an error message when you try to convert a Money 2002 data file to a Money 2006 data file (919524)

SYMPTOMSWhen you try to convert a Microsoft Money 2002 data file to a Microsoft Money 2006 data file, you receive an error message.CAUSEThis issue occurs because of the bank names that are associated with the accounts.WORKAROUNDMethod 1To work around this issue, use the trial edition of Microsoft Money 2004 to convert the data file. Then, convert the Money 2004 data file to a Money 2006 data file. To do this, follow these steps:
- Uninstall Money 2006.
- Change the computer system date to December 31, 2004.
- Download the trial edition of Money 2004.

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.
- Click Run to download the M12USWEB.exe file.
- When you receive the following message, click Yes: Do you want to install Microsoft Money?
- After the trial is installed, start Money 2004.
- Open the Money 2002 data file.
- When you receive a message to convert the file, click Yes.
If you still receive an error message when you try to convert the data file, go to method 2.
- Exit Money 2004.
- Install Money 2006.
- Start Money 2006, and then select the converted Money 2004 data file. When you are prompted to convert the data file, click Yes. If you receive an error message, go to method 2.
Method 2- Uninstall Money 2006.
- Install Money 2002.
- Reopen the data file. If you do not have a backup data file, search for the *.m10 file.
- Turn off all the online services.
- Remove all the bank names that are associated with the accounts. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Accounts & Bills.
- Click Online Services Manager.
- Click Specify where accounts are held.
- Click an account, and then click Move Account.
- Click Not held at a financial institution, and then click OK.
Repeat these steps for all accounts in the list. - If you associated your Windows Live ID with the data file, remove the Windows Live ID. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the File menu, click Login Lockbox, and then click Change.
- Click Disable Money's Passport Network features, and then click Next.
- Click to select the Disable this account for use in Money check box, and then click Finish.
- Repair the file. To do this, follow these steps:
- Exit Money.
- Click Start, click Run, type msmoney.exe -s, and then click OK.
- Change the computer system date to the current date.
- Reinstall Money 2006.
- Try to convert the Money 2002 data file to a Money 2006 data file.
