The validation of XML data incorrectly succeeds in BizTalk Server 2006 (918845)

SYMPTOMS

When you validate an XML data instance against a schema in a Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 project, the validation succeeds when the XML data instance does not match the schema.

CAUSE

This issue occurs when the XML data instance has a different root element and target namespace than the schema. If the XML data instance and the schema have the same root element and target namespace, the validation will fail if the XML data instance contains incorrect data.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this issue occurs in the products that are listed in the Applies to section.
