Error message when you try to burn a CD in Digital Image Suite 2006: "No recordable drive found" (918799)

SYMPTOMSWhen you try to burn a CD by using Photo Story in Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006, you receive the following error message: No recordable drive found. CAUSEThis issue may occur if any one or more of the following conditions are true: - A blank recordable CD is not inserted in the CD recorder drive.
- You have two CD drives. Additionally, the blank recordable CD is not inserted in the CD recorder drive.
- You have two CD drives. Additionally, the CD recorder drive is not configured as the primary drive.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, follow these steps: - Verify that a blank recordable CD is in the CD recorder drive.
- Click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc, and then click OK.
- Expand DVD/CD-ROM drives.
- Right-click the CD recorder drive, and then click Properties.
- Note the value in the Location field:
- A primary drive is listed as Location 0 (0).
- A secondary drive is listed as Location 1 (1).
If the CD recorder drive is installed as the secondary drive, and the read-only drive is installed on the
primary drive, the CD recording software may try to use the primary drive to burn the CD. You receive the error message because the drive is a read-only drive. To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.Method 1: Hardware solution- Make the CD recorder drive
the primary drive and the read-only drive the secondary drive. For more information about how to do this, contact your hardware manufacturer.
- Uninstall Digital Image Suite 2006.
- Reinstall Digital Image Suite 2006.
Method 2: Software solution- Burn the CD by using the Microsoft Windows CD recording feature.
