SYMPTOMS

In SQL Server 2005 Analysis Service, you may experience decreased performance when you browse a ragged hierarchy dimension at a level that has missing members. This issue occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • You use the HideMemberIf property.
  • The HideMemberIf property uses the OnlyChildWithParentName setting of a level in an regular dimension hierarchy to hide missing members.

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services service pack that contains this hotfix.
