The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2006 English (United States)
SYMPTOMSWhen you install the Data Protection Manager (DPM) File Agent on a computer that is running Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2006, the installation may stop unexpectedly. Additionally, you may receive an error message that resembles the following: Error 347: An error occurred when the agent operation attempted to create the DPM Agent Coordinator service on server <ServerName>. Error details: The process terminated unexpectedly Recommended action: Retry the operation. This issue may occur if the following conditions are true: - A third-party LAN Support Program (LSP) is installed on the computer.
- The third-party LSP uses Quality of Service (QoS).
CAUSEThis issue occurs because the installation fails when it calls the AcceptEx function. This behavior causes the DPM to start an infinite recursion. Therefore, the DPM server runs out of memory during the installation.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, you must uninstall the third-party LSP, and then install the DPM File Agent on a computer. After the installation is finished, reinstall the third-party LSP.STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
