Certain Windows dialog boxes may not retain the focus as expected on a Windows XP-based computer (918033)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional
  • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You have a custom program that displays a full-screen window on a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer. This window uses the WS_THICKFRAME style to provide a thick border for the full-screen window.

After you run the custom program, you open certain Windows dialog boxes such as the Run dialog box. You try to change the focus between the full-screen window of the custom program and the Run dialog box. When you try to do this, the Run dialog box may not retain the focus as expected, and the focus returns to the full-screen window of the custom program.
