Description of the hotfix rollup package for Windows Desktop Search: May 30, 2006 (917979)
The information in this article applies to:
INTRODUCTIONMicrosoft has released the hotfix rollup package for Windows Desktop Search version 02.06.5000.5378 that is dated May 30, 2006. This hotfix package fixes the following issues: - Prevents Desktop Search index corruption in roaming user profile environments.
- Lets the Prevent Indexing Certain Paths policy setting include the path root and its hierarchy.
- Changes the Prevent Indexing Certain Paths policy setting so that users cannot add unauthorized paths.
- Changes the Prevent Indexing of Uncached Exchange Folders policy setting so that user settings are retained on removal of this policy.
- Adds the Prevent User Defined Locations policy setting to prevent users from changing indexing target locations in the Windows Desktop Search Indexing Options dialog box.
- Lets you crawl stores by using a forward slash in the name.
The new policy settings are defined in the updated .adm template. This template is available in the update that is described in the "More Information" section.
