The Microsoft Dynamics CRM Workflow service may be stopped and set to "manual" after you upgrade the operating system to Windows Server 2003 R2 (917978)

SYMPTOMSAfter you upgrade the operating system on the server that is running Microsoft Dynamics CRM to Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2, the Microsoft CRM Workflow Service may be stopped and set to manual. This change causes failures in the general workflow and in the bulk e-mail import process.CAUSEThis problem occurs because Windows Server 2003 R2 introduces features that are more secure than the features that are in the earlier versions of the program. The new features may affect some of the Microsoft CRM services after Windows Server 2003 R2 is installed.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, start the Microsoft CRM Workflow Service on the Microsoft CRM server. To do this, follow these steps: - Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click Run.
- In the Services window, click Microsoft CRM Workflow Service, and then verify the following settings:
- Status: Started
- Startup Type: Automatic

- If the Startup Type field is set to Manual, reset the field value to Automatic. To do this, follow these steps:
- Right-click Microsoft CRM Workflow Service. Then click Properties.
- On the General tab, click Automatic in the Startup type list.
- If the service is not already started, click Start to start the service.
