FIX: The Korn shell (ksh) or the tcsh shell may unexpectedly exit when you run a script in Windows Services for UNIX 3.5 on a computer that uses symmetric multiprocessing (917960)

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario.
  • You run Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX 3.5 on a computer that uses symmetric multiprocessing (SMP).
  • You run a script in the Korn shell (ksh) or in the tcsh shell.
  • A program makes a fork system call.
In this scenario, core dump files may be generated, and the shell may unexpectedly exit (crash).

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the process receives a signal when the process is in the fork system call.
