SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You develop an Analysis Services project by using SQL Server 2005 Business Intelligence Development Studio. You process a data mining model that contains a thousand of attributes and a frequent sampling rate. In this scenario, the mining model may not process, and you may receive the following error message:
Memory error: Allocation failure : Not enough storage is available to process this command.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft SQL Server 2005 service pack that contains this hotfix.

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix. Prerequisites

You must have installed the original release version of SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services to apply this hotfix. Or you must have installed SQL Server 2005 SP1 to apply the cumulative hotfix package (build 2153) for SQL Server 2005.

Restart information

You have to restart the computer if the installer must replace files that are being used. To avoid restarting the computer, you must close all SQL Server Analysis Services tools and clients. Additionally, you must stop Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) if the server is configured to provide HTTP access. If you have installed SQL Server Analysis Services as a named instance, you should also stop the SQL Server Browser service because the Msmdredir.dll component of the SQL Server Browser service is updated when you install the hotfix.

Registry information

You do not have to change the registry.

This hotfix contains only those files that are required to correct the issues that this article lists. This hotfix may not contain of all the files that you must have to fully update a product to the latest build.
