The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005
SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. An Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC) is running an English or Korean version of Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005. On this Ultra-Mobile PC, you use the SHIFT or CAPS LOCK key on the On-Screen Keyboard (OSK). However, the OSK may not correctly show the case change of letter keys. For example, you may experience one of the following symptoms:
- When you press SHIFT or CAPS LOCK, some keys are displayed in uppercase on the OSK, and some keys are displayed in lowercase.
- When you type a letter, the case of the typed letter differs from the case of the letter that appears on the OSK.
Additionally, you may also experience one of the following symptoms: - When you press SHIFT, only one SHIFT key appears to be pressed on the OSK.
- When you press and then release SHIFT, the SHIFT key remains pressed on the OSK.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if the following conditions are true: - Microsoft Touch Pack for Ultra-Mobile PC is installed on the computer.
- The DialKeys on-screen keyboard is running when you use the Tablet PC OSK.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, exit the DialKeys on-screen keyboard when you are using the OSK. To do this, click the DialKeys icon in the notification area, and then click Exit.
