You cannot use the copy and paste operation to copy text that contains tracked changes from a source document to a new document in Word (917636)

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You copy text from a Microsoft Word source document. This text contains tracked changes. Then, you paste this text to a new document. In this scenario, the tracked changes are not pasted to the new document.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, turn off the Track Changes feature in the source document before you copy and paste the text that contains tracked changes to a new document.

Use one of the following methods to turn off the Track Changes feature in the source document:
  • On the Tools menu, click Track Changes.
  • On the Status bar, double-click TRK.
Note After you copy and paste the text that contains tracked changes to a new document, you may have to turn on the Track Changes feature in the source document.
