INTRODUCTIONThis article describes the Outlook 2002 issue that is fixed in the hotfix package that is dated April 24, 2006. Issues that the hotfix package fixesThis hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article: - Consider the following scenarios.
Scenario 1
In Microsoft Windows Explorer, you right-click a file, and then click Mail Recipient. You then add several recipients to the e-mail message in Outlook 2002 by typing the name of the recipients in one of the following boxes:Then, you press ENTER to select the e-mail addresses for the recipients. In this scenario, Windows Explorer stops responding (hangs) when you send the e-mail message.
Scenario 2
In Microsoft Internet Explorer, you browse to a Web page. Then, you point to Send on the File menu, and then click Page by E-mail. You then add several recipients to the e-mail message in Outlook 2002 by typing the name of the recipients in one of the following boxes:Then, you press ENTER to select the e-mail addresses for the recipients. In this scenario, Internet Explorer stops responding (hangs) when you send the e-mail message.
Workaround
Use one of the following methods to temporarily work around this problem if you cannot apply this hotfix:- Do not press ENTER to accept the suggested e-mail addresses. Instead, press CTRL+K.
- Disable the AutoComplete feature. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the Preferences tab, click E-mail Options.
- Click Advanced E-mail Options.
- Click to clear the Suggest names while completing To, Cc, and Bcc fields check box.
- Click OK to close the Advanced E-mail Options dialog box.
- Click OK to close the E-mail Options dialog box.
- Click OK to close the Options dialog box.
