SYMPTOMSYou try to log on to Microsoft Office Project Server 2003 by using Microsoft Office Project Web Access 2003 or by using Microsoft Office Professional 2003. Or, you try to log on to Microsoft Project Server 2002 by using Microsoft Project Web Access 2002 or by using Microsoft Project Professional 2002. However, you receive the following error message in both scenarios: You have entered an incorrect user name/password combination. (5002) CAUSEThis issue may occur if the following conditions are true: - Your user account in Project Server is configured to use Project Server authentication.
- You use one of the following methods:
- You use your Project Server user account to log on to Project Server. However, you type an incorrect user name or password.
- You use your Microsoft Windows authenticated user account to log on to Project Server.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, make sure that you type the correct user name and password of your Project Server user account when you log on to Project Server. MORE INFORMATIONProject Server has two types of users, Project Server users and Windows authenticated users. Project Server authentication is used for Project Server users. Windows authentication is used for Windows authenticated users. A Project Server user accesses Project Server data by using a user account that is set up in Project Server.
A Windows authenticated user accesses Project Server data by using his or her Windows authenticated user account. You do not have to type your user name and password when you log on to Project Server as a Windows authenticated user. You are automatically logged on to Project Server when you start Project Web Access or when you start Project Professional and connect to the server. Additionally, if you log off Project Web Access 2003, you can log on again if you click Log on using your Microsoft Windows user account on the Logon page.
