SYMPTOMSThe domain administrator can set a policy to prevent
accounts in the domain from being installed on non-managed computers in Groove. When this
policy is enabled, you receive the following error message when you try to open
your account in Groove: The supplied identity is not allowed on your
machine. Please contact your Groove administrator. This issue occurs
even if you use the activation key that is sent to you by your administrator.
Alternatively, this issue occurs even if you restore a previously saved account
on a computer that does not have the management key added to the
registry. RESOLUTIONIf you are the administrator, you can resolve this issue by
using one of the following methods. Method 1: Remove the policy- Log on to the Groove Management Server.
- Click the Policies tab, and then click to
clear the Members can only use managed identities from this domain on
devices in this domain check box.
If you are running Groove Management Server 3.0 or an earlier version of Groove Management Server, click to clear the Identity may only be used on a managed device in the
domain check box.
Method 2: Make the computer a managed Groove computer- Log on to the Groove Management Server, select a device
template, and then click Download Device Management Key. The
File Download window appears.
- Click Save, enter a directory location,
and then click Save to save the management server registry key
in a .reg file.
- Provide the .reg file to the user who is using the client
computer.
- On the client computer, make sure that Groove is closed. If
you see a Groove icon in the notification area, click the icon, and then click
Exit Groove.
- On the client computer, double-click the .reg file to add
the key to the registry and to make the computer a Groove managed computer.
- Restart Groove and open the managed account.
