Groove's native Simple Symmetrical Transfer Protocol (SSTP) uses port 2492. The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) assigned this port to Groove. If Groove cannot communicate over TCP port 2492, Groove relies on less efficient transports that are more generally available. These transports are as follows:
  • Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) that uses port 443
  • HTTP that uses port 80
