The security update for Office 2000 and for Project 2000 (KB917152) addresses the following issue that was not previously documented in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
  • Microsoft Outlook 2000 stops responding when you open a subfolder from the Outlook Bar
    When you open a subfolder on your computer by using the My Computer shortcut on the Outlook Bar in Microsoft Outlook 2000, Outlook 2000 may stop responding (hang).

    This behavior occurs when the name of the subfolder that you opened uses double-byte character set (DBCS) characters.

Removal information

After you install this update, you cannot remove the update. To revert to an earlier installation of Microsoft Office 2000 and of Microsoft Project 2000, you must remove Office 2000 and Project 2000. Then, reinstall Office 2000 and Project 2000 by using the original CD.
