Contacts from the Windows Address Book are not displayed when you view the Contacts folder in Outlook Express 6.0 and in Outlook Express 5.5 (917129)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Outlook Express 6.0
- Microsoft Outlook Express 5.5 for Windows 98 Second Edition
SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Outlook Express 6.0 and in Microsoft Outlook Express 5.5, contacts from the Windows Address Book are not displayed when you view the Contacts folder.
CAUSEThis issue occurs if the Windows Address Book contains more than 1000 contacts. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, follow these steps: - Click Start, and then click Search.
- Click All files and folders.
- In the All or part of the file name box, type *.wab, and then click Search.
- Double-click each file in the search results. When you find a file that has more than 1000 entries, click any obsolete or duplicate entries, and then click Delete. Remove entries until the file contains less than 1000 entries.
- Close the file.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this limitation in Outlook Express, use Microsoft Outlook. Outlook does not have a contact limit of 1000 contacts. You can import the Windows Address Book into Outlook. When you do this, all the entries in the Windows Address Book become Outlook contacts.
