FIX: A Windows CE 5.0-based device may not connect to a wireless access point or may take a long time to connect to the wireless access point that uses the WPA-PSK authentication method (916976)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows CE 5.0

SYMPTOMS

A Microsoft Windows CE 5.0-based device may not connect or may take a long time to connect to a wireless access point when the wireless access point uses the Wi-Fi Protected Access-Pre-Shared Key (WPA-PSK) authentication method.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the NDIS miniport driver for the wireless network adapter sends packets to the Wireless Zero Configuration service faster than the packets can be processed. During the association phase, the Wireless Zero Configuration service handles the authentication packets by using a thread that is running at too low of a priority.
