You cannot use Internet Explorer to connect to the Internet from a virtual machine in Virtual PC for Mac version 6.1 (916844)

RESOLUTION

1. Start the Macintosh computer, and then verify that you can connect to the Internet.
2. Start Virtual PC for Mac version 6.1, and then start the virtual machine that you want.
3. Click Start, click Run, type iexplore.exe, and then click OK.
4. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
5. On the Connections tab, click Never dial a connection.
6. Click LAN Settings, click to clear the following check boxes, and then click OK:
   • Automatically detect settings
   • Use automatic configuration script
   • Use a proxy server for your LAN
7. On the Connections tab, click Setup, and then click Next.
8. Click Connect to the Internet, and then click Next.
9. Click Set up my connection manually, and then click Next.
10. Click Connect using a broadband connection that is always on, click Next, and then click Finish.
11. Close Internet Explorer, and then turn off the virtual machine.
12. On the Virtual PC menu, click Preferences.
13. Click Scripts, click to select the Show Scripts Menu check box, and then click OK.
14. On the Scripts menu, click Set Networking Type, and then click OK.
15. Click Change, click Shared Sockets, and then click OK.
