You cannot use Internet Explorer to connect to the Internet from a virtual machine in Virtual PC for Mac version 6.1 (916844)

SYMPTOMSYou cannot use Microsoft Internet Explorer to connect to the Internet from a virtual machine in Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac version 6.1.CAUSEThis issue may occur if you have an America Online account that uses a dial-up account to connect to the Internet.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, follow these steps: - Start the Macintosh computer, and then verify that you can connect to the Internet.
- Start Virtual PC for Mac version 6.1, and then start the virtual machine that you want.
- Click Start, click Run, type iexplore.exe, and then click OK.
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
- On the Connections tab, click Never dial a connection.
- Click LAN Settings, click to clear the following check boxes, and then click OK:
- Automatically detect settings
- Use automatic configuration script
- Use a proxy server for your LAN
- On the Connections tab, click Setup, and then click Next.
- Click Connect to the Internet, and then click Next.
- Click Set up my connection manually, and then click Next.
- Click Connect using a broadband connection that is always on, click Next, and then click Finish.
- Close Internet Explorer, and then turn off the virtual machine.
- On the Virtual PC menu, click Preferences.
- Click Scripts, click to select the Show Scripts Menu check box, and then click OK.
- On the Scripts menu, click Set Networking Type, and then click OK.
- Click Change, click Shared Sockets, and then click OK.
