The shadow for a program on the "All Programs" menu does not disappear after you drag the program outside the menu area on a Windows XP-based computer (916736)

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You drag a program from the All Programs menu outside the menu area without releasing the mouse button on a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer.
  • The All Programs menu closes.
In this scenario, when you release the mouse button, the shadow for the program on the All Programs menu does not disappear.

Note To use the All Programs menu, click Start, and then point to All Programs.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, press the ESC key. The shadow will disappear.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
