Media Center Extender or a networked Plays for Sure device cannot discover and associate with a Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition-based computer (916604)

SYMPTOMSYou use Microsoft Media Center Extender or a networked PlaysForSure device to discover a Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition-based computer. The device that you use to discover the computer uses the Simple Service Discovery Protocol (SSDP). However, the device cannot discover and associate with the computer.
Note An example of a networked PlaysForSure device is Microsoft Xbox 360.CAUSEThis issue may occur if you use a NETGEAR XE104 Wall-Plugged Ethernet Switch that does not correctly forward the SSDP packets. The NETGEAR XE104 Wall-Plugged Ethernet Switch may not correctly forward these packets if the firmware that it uses is version 1.5.
Note Other home networking Powerline products experience the same connectivity issues if they use the same technology as a NETGEAR XE104 Wall-Plugged Ethernet Switch that uses firmware that is version 1.5.WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, contact NETGEAR to obtain the latest version of the firmware for the NETGEAR XE104 Wall-Plugged Ethernet Switch.
