INTRODUCTION

Groove Virtual Office and Groove Workspace support VeriSign-issued software publisher certificates for component signing.

MORE INFORMATION

In the original release version of Groove, the Groove Development Kit (GDK) enabled Groove tool developers to sign their Groove components, but only by using Groove-generated self-signed certificates. This process is inconvenient for end users, because the software publishers' digital fingerprints must be verified out-of-band to use this security.

Groove Workspace 2.0 and later versions of Groove support component signing by using VeriSign-issued software publisher certificates. VeriSign is a well-known trusted certification authority. You can now have the same public key infrastructure (PKI) security benefits in Groove as in Web browsers.
