SYMPTOMS

When you install Groove with default values, you may receive the following error message at the Choose User Data Location page:
A directory name cannot contain any of the following characters: `{'}~!@#$%^&()+=[];

CAUSE

This issue occurs when your Microsoft Windows user name contains a restricted character, such as an apostrophe. The default value for the Groove User Data folder is based on the Windows user name. For example, this issue occurs when a default user directory is named C:\Documents and Settings\O'Brien.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use a custom location, such as C:\Program Files\Groove Networks\Groove\UserData.
