INTRODUCTIONThis article describes how to associate a preexisting Groove
user on the Groove Enterprise Management Server with a new Lightweight
Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) entry.MORE INFORMATION A preexisting Groove identity will not link to a newly
added LDAP entry when you synchronize to the LDAP directory. This behavior
occurs because Groove users are not uniquely identified by identity name.
Instead, a newly imported user will be created that has the same name or a
similar name. At that point, you can convert the LDAP-imported user to the
identity of the existing user and maintain all the user's shared workspace
memberships.
The established or manually created identity will appear
as Active. The imported user will appear as
Pending because that user has not been enabled. Copy the
activation key that is associated with the imported identity. Then, send the
activation key to the user. Include instructions to log on to Groove by using the
user's established identity and then to run the product activation wizard.
When the user activates the
account by using the activation key that is associated with the
imported identity, an identity conversion is triggered. This is similar to when
an unmanaged user converts to a managed identity. After this occurs, the user
will have all his or her workspaces and contacts associated with the
LDAP-imported identity. The Enterprise Management Server will still show two identities.
However, the imported identity will appear as Active, and the
older identity will appear as Pending. You may safely delete
the old identity from this state.
