INTRODUCTION

This article describes full-duplex and half-duplex connections in the audio features of Groove Chat.

MORE INFORMATION

In a full-duplex audio connection, you can record and play back audio streams at the same time. This means that you can speak without losing the ability to listen. Both the Conference mode and the Hold-to-Talk mode of Groove Chat are full-duplex.

In a half-duplex audio connection, recording is disabled when you are listening. Additionally, playback is limited to one stream at a time. Groove will play voice entries by other Chat members as soon as you stop speaking and the channel is free. The default One-to-All mode is half-duplex.

For more information about voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) features in Groove Chat, see the "Using audio-chatting features" topic in the Groove Virtual Office User's Guide.
