INTRODUCTION

To install or upgrade Groove Virtual Office or Groove Workspace on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows NT, you must log on to the computer as a user who has administrative credentials.

MORE INFORMATION

Immediately after you install Groove as a user who has administrative credentials, log on to Windows again as the administrator to complete some service registrations and other actions. After Groove is successfully installed, you do not have to log on as an administrator to run Groove. You can use Groove as a standard user as long as the Windows account has read/write permission to the Groove data directories and program directory. The default locations of these directories vary depending on the operating system and the version of Groove that you are using:
  • Groove 1.3 on a computer that is running any operating system:

    C:\Program Files\Groove\data

  • Groove Workspace 2.0 and later versions of Groove on a computer that is running Windows NT:

    C:\Program Files\Groove Networks\Groove
    C:\WINNT\Profiles\<username>\Application Data\Groove Networks\Groove

  • Groove Workspace 2.0 and later versions of Groove on a computer that is running Windows 2000:

    C:\Program Files\Groove Networks\Groove
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Groove Networks\Groove

  • Groove Workspace 2.0 and later versions of Groove on a computer that is running Windows XP:

    C:\Program Files\Groove Networks\Groove
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Groove Networks\Groove
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Groove Networks\Groove

If the Windows account does not have read/write permission to these directories, contact the system administrator.
