Introduction

To use Groove, you must have Microsoft Internet Explorer installed and configured. However, Internet Explorer does not have to be your default browser.

MORE INFORMATION

Groove Virtual Office and all earlier Groove products use many of the .dll files that are installed with Internet Explorer. If Groove uses a proxy, it also obtains proxy information from Internet Explorer. You can use Groove when another browser is set as your default browser. However, the following conditions must be true to use Groove:
  • You must have the required version of Internet Explorer that is listed in the software requirements for the version of the following programs that is installed on the computer:
    • Groove
    • Groove Workspace
    • Groove Virtual Office
  • You must have the correct proxy settings in Internet Explorer.
Note Groove Workspace 2.5i and earlier versions of Groove tries to interpret the proxy information from both Internet Explorer and Netscape when both browsers are present. However, Groove communications may fail if the following conditions are true:
  • You have both Netscape and Internet Explorer on the system.
  • You have Netscape and Internet Explorer configured for different proxies.
Groove Virtual Office always obtains proxy information from Internet Explorer. Therefore, proxy configuration in Netscape does not cause any issues with Groove Virtual Office when the proxy information is correct in Internet Explorer.
