Introduction

This article discusses how to adjust the audio levels in Groove.

MORE INFORMATION

In Groove Virtual Office 3.0 and Groove Virtual Office 3.1, the Audio Tuning Wizard helps you adjust the audio settings. To use this wizard, click Options in the Chat pane, and then click Audio Tuning Wizard.

In Groove Workspace 2.5, the Audio Tuner Wizard gives you the basic steps to adjust the audio settings. To use this wizard, click Audio in the Chat pane, and then click Audio Tuner.

Groove uses a program that is included with Microsoft Windows to record audio. If the Audio Tuning Wizard does not set the audio to satisfactory levels, you must test the audio settings outside Groove. To test the Windows sound recording, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type SNDREC32 in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Click Record, and then talk into your microphone for several seconds.
  3. Click Stop.
  4. Make sure that the volume on your speakers is turned up.
  5. Click Play.
If the recording sounds faint, you may have to make some adjustments to the microphone or to the speaker.

Note The volume level that you hear is what other Groove members will hear.

If you cannot hear anything at all, make sure that the microphone is selected in the system's volume settings. To verify the volume settings, follow these steps:
  1. Double-click the Volume control icon in the notification area.
  2. On the Options menu, click Properties.
  3. Under Adjust Volume For, click to select Recording, and then click OK.
  4. Make sure that the Microphone line is selected as the recording source.
