Introduction

This article discusses how Groove determines the time stamp on instant messages.

MORE INFORMATION

The time stamp on Groove instant messages is set by the time that is on the sender's computer when the instant message is sent. When Groove receives an instant message, it modifies the time stamp by using the regional time settings of the recipient's computer. Therefore, when an instant message is received in Groove, the local time of the recipient's computer is used for the time stamp.

If one of the following items is incorrect on the computer of the recipient or of the sender, the incorrect time is reflected in instant messages and in chats:
  • the time
  • the time zone
  • the date
If you see an incorrect time stamp on instant messages, have all users check their regional and date settings, correct them where it is required, and then restart Groove. After Groove is restarted, new instant messages will have the correct time stamp.
