If you no longer have access to a Groove identity, and the identity is listed in the groove.net public directory, you cannot remove the identity from the directory.

If you then create a new identity that has the same name or a similar name, the new identity may cause confusion when other users search for your identity in the Groove directory. To minimize this problem and to speed searches, the Groove public directory does not display identities for accounts that have been inactive for 15 days or longer.

Inactivity means that the account has not been online for 15 days. Inactivity can occur for several reasons. These reasons include the following:

• You delete an account without removing the identities from the directories.
• You lose access to the account. You may lose access to the account because of a lost password, a hard disk failure, and so on.
• You do not log on to the account when you are offline or when you are on an isolated network.

In these situations, all identities that are associated with that account are removed from the groove.net directory after 15 days. If you later reconnect by using that account, all associated identities that have the appropriate List my identity in setting will again be listed in the groove.net directory.
