SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. You install the update that is described in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article 828026 on a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer.
Every time that you visit Microsoft Windows Update Web site thereafter, Windows Update continually detects and installs the update.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, follow these steps: - Uninstall the KB 828026 update. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.
- In the Add or Remove Programs window, select Windows Media Player (KB828026), and then click Remove.
- Uninstall Microsoft Windows Media Player. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection Uninstall 132
c:\windows\inf\wmp.inf, and then click OK.
- Restart the computer.
- Install Windows Media Player. Click the following link to download Windows Media Player:
- Install the KB 828026 update again. Click the following link to download the KB 828026 update:
