FIX: You cannot install OLE DB Provider for DB2 1.0 on a computer that has only the SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio component installed (916244)

SYMPTOMSYou cannot install Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 version 1.0 that is included in the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Feature Pack on a computer that has only the SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio component installed.
When this problem occurs, you receive the following message from the OLE DB Provider for DB2 Installation Wizard: Upgrade Partially Successful Upgrade was partially successful. Errors encountered while configuring the upgraded product.
A Logfile has been created in your temp directory.
Setup cannot continue because a supported version of SQL Server 2005 is not installed. Supported versions included Enterprise, Developer, and Enterprise Evaluation.
CAUSEWhen SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio is the only SQL Server 2005 component that is installed on the computer, the Setup program (Setup.exe) for OLE DB Provider for DB2 1.0 cannot determine whether a supported version of SQL Server 2005 is installed.RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next OLE DB Provider for DB2 1.0 release that contains this hotfix. To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix. After you obtain the hotfix, follow these steps to apply the hotfix: - After you downloaded the installation package for OLE DB Provider for DB2 from the SQL Server 2005 Feature Pack download site, the installation files were extracted to a folder. In the folder to which the OLE DB Provider for DB2 installation files were extracted, locate the MSI folder. For example, the path of the MSI folder may be the following:
- Copy the updated SetupHookDB2.dll file to the MSI folder. Click Yes when you are prompted to replace the existing file.
- In the folder to which the installation files were extracted, run the Setup program (Setup.exe) to install OLE DB Provider for DB2 1.0.
