  • Microsoft Xbox 360
  • Xbox Video Game System

SYMPTOMS

When you use an Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable, the screen image appears stretched on a non-widescreen display.

CAUSE

This issue occurs when you configure your Xbox 360 console to display in widescreen format and the monitor or TV uses a Normal display mode with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

To use a widescreen setting on an Xbox 360 console together with a non-widescreen monitor or TV, the console automatically stretches the image to fill the screen.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. Configure the Xbox 360 console to display in Normal mode. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Start the Xbox 360 console without a disc in the disc tray.
    2. In the System section of the Xbox Dashboard, select Console Settings.
    3. In the Console Settings area, select Display.
    4. In the Display Settings area, select Screen Format.
    5. In the Screen Format area, select Normal, and then press the A button on the controller or on the remote control.

MORE INFORMATION

The following resolutions support a 4:3 aspect ratio:
