The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition

SYMPTOMS

When you try to tune to certain Digital Video Broadcasting Terrestrial (DVB-T) television stations on a Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition-based computer, you receive the following error message:
No TV Signal
Additionally, the same television stations may correctly appear on another display such as a set-top box.

MORE INFORMATION

Windows XP Media Center is designed to support DVB-T signals that broadcast both an audio stream and a video stream. However, certain DVB-T television stations send the video streams without the audio streams. Windows XP Media Center discards these signals as not valid.

Additionally, Windows XP Media Center does not support the MHEG-5 DVB-T signal broadcast standard. Therefore, Windows XP Media Center cannot process the MHEG-5 signals that certain television stations broadcast.
