FIX: COMTI transactions may stop working correctly after you apply a Host Integration Server 2000 post-SP2 COMTI update (915841)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 SP2
SYMPTOMSAfter you apply a Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 post-Service Pack 2 (SP2) COMTI update, Microsoft Component Object Model (COM) Transaction Integrator (COMTI) transactions may stop working correctly. This problem affects COMTI transactions that use remote environments (REs) when the RE has the following configuration: - The RE type is Information Management Systems (IMS) over open transaction management architecture (OTMA).
- The RE is configured to authenticate by using user credentials or package credentials.
- The RE is configured to use a Host Security Domain to obtain the user's host credentials from a Host Account Cache database.
When this problem occurs, an event that is similar to the following may be logged: Event ID: 102
Source: COMTI
Description: (102) COM Transaction Integrator reported the following exception to the client:
Component: Component NameMethod: Method NameException description:
(2168) The TCP transport received an error message from IMS when using IMS Connect or OTMA. Message=DFS1292E SECURITY VIOLATION , Transaction Transaction Name. IP Address: TCP/IP Address, port: Port number.
The actual exception description may vary, depending on the specific operating environment. The description may also vary depending on the IBM security subsystem configuration. For example, the description will differ if the configuration uses IBM Resource Access Control Facility (RACF) security or Computer Associates ACF2 security. CAUSEThis problem occurs because COMTI incorrectly uses NULL (EBCDIC X'00') characters to pad the host user name and password when the host user name and password are less than eight characters long.RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article.
