FIX: The page breaks in a report are not rendered correctly when you render a SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services report in Excel (915835)

BUG #: 461 (SQL Hotfix)
Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You render a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services report in Microsoft Excel. The report contains a table that has a table header or a table footer. In this scenario, the page breaks in the report are not rendered correctly. This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • The NoRows element is set to true.
  • The NoRowsMessage element is null.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next SQL Server 2005 service pack that contains this hotfix.

MORE INFORMATION

When this problem occurs, the table header or the table footer is rendered correctly. However, the page breaks are not rendered correctly. If you render the report in a format other than the Excel format, the page breaks are rendered correctly.
