FIX: A Windows CE 5.0 image cannot connect over an Ethernet connection to a remote PC partnership by using ActiveSync (915681)

SYMPTOMS

You apply the software update in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 911711 to Microsoft Platform Builder 5.0. After you apply the software update, a Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 image cannot connect over an Ethernet connection to a remote PC partnership by using ActiveSync.

CAUSE

The software update in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 911711 added code to the ActiveSync client, Repllog.exe, to detect if a previous direct connect session ended abnormally. The code should call the WSAStartup function. However, the code did not generate an error when a direct serial connection to the host was used.

Prerequisites

This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you install this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To clean the platform, click Clean on the Build menu. To build the platform, click Build Platform on the Build menu. You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this update.
