This article describes how to configure Groove Virtual Office so that Microsoft Windows Messenger does not start.

By default, Groove Virtual Office starts Windows Messenger if you have access to Windows Messenger services. When Groove does this, the Windows Messenger icon appears in the notification area. When you try to exit Windows Messenger, you receive the following message:There are other applications currently using features provided by Windows Messenger. You must close these other applications before you can exit Windows Messenger. These applications may include Outlook, Outlook Express, MSN Explorer, and Internet Explorer.To configure Groove so that Windows Messenger does not start, follow these steps:
  1. On the Options menu in Groove, click Preferences, and then click the Options tab.
  2. Click to clear the Enable Windows Messenger support check box.
  3. Click OK.
