INTRODUCTION

This article describes that how to back up a Groove Enterprise Integration Server (EIS) system.

MORE INFORMATION

We recommend that you periodically back up the EIS and service data to avoid data loss. Additionally, we recommend that you back up the data at least one time a week during routine maintenance. The backup image is valid for restoration for only two weeks. The image should be discarded when it is old. In addition to periodic backups, we strongly recommend that you back up the server before you upgrade the EIS.

To back up the EIS, follow these steps:
  1. Shut down the EIS processes by using the GrooveEIS.exe /q command.
  2. Use your preferred file backup application to back up the boot partition and the drive that includes the registry data. Typically, these are both on drive C.
  3. Back up the folders in which the integration server program and the integration server data are installed.
  4. Restart the EIS.
Note Shutting down the integration server does not affect the continued use of Groove by Groove users.

Caution Do not restore an EIS backup image when the server is still operating and is still active on the network. Restoring a backup image is intended only to recover integration server data that was irretrievably lost.
