INTRODUCTION

This article describes why Groove directories do not display inactive identities.

MORE INFORMATION

To speed up searches, Groove directories do not display identities for accounts that have been inactive for more than the directory time limit. An account is inactive when it is not online.

In Groove Enterprise Management Server (EMS), the default time limit is 30 days. You can change this limit in the Domain Properties dialog box.

In Groove Hosted Management Services, or for accounts that are listed on www.groove.net, the default time limit is 15 days.

An account may become inactive for several reasons. Some of these reasons are as follows:
  • A user deletes an account without removing the identities from the directories.
  • A user loses access to the account. For example, the user experiences a hard disk failure on the only computer that is running or storing the account.
  • A user does not log on to the account.
  • A user works offline or on an isolated network.
In all these cases, after the time limit is reached, all identities that are associated with the account are removed from the Groove directory.

The user may later reconnect to Groove by using the account. In this case, all associated identities that have the appropriate List my identity in setting are listed again in the Groove directory.
