Error message when you try to merge Word documents from the Document Review tool in Groove: "The Merge process was aborted because of the following error: 'Command failed'" (915637)

SYMPTOMSYou try to merge Microsoft Word documents from the Document
Review tool in Groove Workspace or in Groove Virtual Office. When you do this, you receive the following error message: The Merge process was aborted because of the following error: "Command failed" CAUSEThis issue occurs when one of the following
conditions is true:
- A reviewer made a markup document by using a later version
of Word than the one that you, as the author, are using in the Document
Review tool.
- The changes in a markup document are too complex to merge
into the original.
Note This behavior is likely to occur only with Microsoft Word 97 or Microsoft Word
2000. - The Word installation is corrupted.
- The Word installation does not include current
service packs.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, make sure that the Word
installation includes all current service packs. Additionally, make sure that the version of Word that you are using is the same as the
version that your reviewers are using.
If the issue persists, run the Detect and
Repair feature from the Help menu in Word.
