This article describes how to start Groove without opening the Groove Launchbar.

When you troubleshoot Groove errors that occur during startup, you may want to start Groove in the notification area only. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open a Command Prompt window.
  2. Locate the Groove Bin folder. Typically, the Groove Bin folder is at the following location:

    Drive:\Program Files\Groove Networks\Groove\Bin

    To move to this folder, use one of the following methods as appropriate:
    • If you are using Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

      cd drive:\program files\groove networks\groove\bin

    • If you are using an earlier version of Windows, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

      cd drive:\progra~1\groove~1\groove\bin

    Note In this command, drive is the drive on which you installed Groove.
  3. Type groove /trayonly, and then press ENTER.
