This article discusses why we do not recommend that you create sequentially numbered documents in the Forms tool in Groove Workspace and in Groove Virtual Office.

When you number records sequentially, duplicate record numbers may be created. This issue occurs because Groove provides both online and offline access to data.

The Forms tool provides a unique initial value property that you can set for text fields. By using this property, you can create unique numeric identifiers, such as incident numbers or order numbers.
