You may not be able to use the Groove integration with Outlook when you log on Windows by using a user account that is not the account that installed Groove Workspace (915560)

Use of the Outlook integration features of Groove may be restricted to the user who installed Groove Workspace, depending on the version of Groove and the type of installation.

• In Groove Workspace 2.0, the Outlook OnRamp feature can be installed only for the installing user. The installing user is usually the administrator.
• In Groove Workspace 2.1, the Outlook OnRamp feature can be installed for all users if Groove Workspace is installed for all users.
• In Groove Workspace 2.5 and Groove Virtual Office 3.x, Groove can always be installed for all users. Therefore, all users can use the Outlook integration in Groove Workspace 2.5 and Groove Virtual Office 3.x.

In versions of Groove that are earlier than Groove Workspace 2.5i, these differences may make it more difficult to uninstall Groove.

If you install Groove Workspace 2.0 or Groove Workspace 2.1 for a single user, the registry key for Outlook OnRamp is created in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive. If you install Groove Workspace 2.1 or Groove Workspace 2.5 for all users, the registry key is created in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive. Both of these installations uninstall cleanly.

However, the registry key for Outlook OnRamp is created in both hives if the following conditions are true:

• You upgrade Groove Workspace 2.0 to Groove Workspace 2.1 or to Groove Workspace 2.5, and install for all users.
• You install Groove Workspace 2.1 or Groove Workspace 2.5 through 2.5i for the current user only, but then reinstall for all users.

If the registry key for Outlook OnRamp is created in both hives, only the installing user can uninstall Groove cleanly. If another user initiates the uninstall process, the registry key that is in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive will be removed, but the key that is in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive will remain. In this case, the user who first installed Groove is left with a non-functioning Groove icon in Outlook.

To remove the non-functioning Groove icon from Outlook, click Customize on the Tools menu, click Toolbars, click the Groove icon, and then click Delete.
