Error message when you try to merge records in Microsoft CRM 3.0: "The logged-on user does not have sufficient privileges to perform the requested action" (915487)

The hotfix that is discussed in this article is not available for the Chinese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM or for the Japanese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

SYMPTOMS

When you try to merge records in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, you receive the following error message:
The logged-on user does not have sufficient privileges to perform the requested action.
This problem occurs with records such as contacts, accounts, and leads. This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • You have the Delete privilege at the user level for the records.
  • You are not the owner of the records.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
